About Me
My name is Ian Talbot, I am 56 years old and I live in Walthamstow, North-East London.
In an earlier life, photography was my profession. Now, after many years of not even owning a camera and never so much as picking one up, I have rediscovered the passion. Perhaps I should just say "discovered" because, unlike before, I now photograph what I want, when I want and how I want.
The freedom is exhilarating!
I used to say that it is up to the viewer to decide how successful my images are but I've recently come to the conclusion that it's pretty much impossible to second guess what the reaction of any given viewer may be. Obviously no-one else can have the same intimate relationship with my images that I have and often the thinking and motivation behind them may not be self evident. So I please myself first and if other people like it that's a bonus.
It's a bonus that I'm still very flattered by, however!
It's usual at this point to list the equipment I use but I think I'll resist the temptation. After all, would it make my work appear any different if you knew what brand of camera, lenses etc. I use? You can make great images with virtually any camera although they may not be, technically, everything you could wish for. Conversely, no equipment can make up for the lack of eye, brain or heart.
One last word... all the work you see here at this site is a joint effort and any credit for it I share with my beautiful wife, Desirée, whose unfailing love, support and encouragement make it all possible.
She is, quite simply, the inspiration for everything I do.
